How to remove “blog archive” from WordPress post Titles

Removing “blog archive” will be a headache if you not familiar with wordpress Theme Editing. If blog archive in the title, in the SEO point of view it is a major drawback. Just compare these two titles which one is more SEO friendly. It can decide by you.

Blog Title >> Blog Archive >> Post title

These unwanted words can be removed by following steps

  • Log into WordPress account and click Appearance -> Editor
  • In the editor on the right hand side of your browser window, select the file call Header (header.php) from the list of theme files
  • Look for this line of code just a few lines from the top.:

<?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?> <?php if ( is_single() ) { ?> » Blog Archive <?php } ?><?php wp_title(); ?>

  • Remove this section  “» Blog Archive”

The remaining portion should look like this:

<?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?> <?php wp_title(); ?>

Or if you need to keep blog name after the post name arrange this to following order

<?php wp_title(); ?> <?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?>

  • Click Update File to save the file.

(If update option is not available please change file parameters to 777 by FTP client or in hosting control panel; do not forget to change file parameters to 644 after complete the editing)

That’s it Google indexed pages with “Blog Archive” will be changed after few days or few weeks
